A flying beer can struck Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman in the head during the team’s victory parade on Friday, drawing blood — and laughs from the executive and other revelers.
Roseman, architect of the club that’s appeared in three Super Bowls and won two in eight years, was no worse for wear when he addressed fans in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
“I bleed for this city! Go Eagles!” the cigar-chomping Roseman screamed, a visible wound still on his head. “Our players, our staff did an unbelievable job. We are two time world champs, and we’re coming back strong!”
Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, tongue in cheek, took Eagles fans to task for not putting a softer touch on that beer toss toward Roseman.
“Everything was perfect, except for some of y’all who didn’t know how to toss a beer nicely,” he jokingly chided the crowd. “You fired it too hard, just ask Howie Roseman.”
Despite that stray brew, Shapiro thanked police and other civil servants for their work on Friday at the huge event.
“But law enforcement, first responders and the great mayor of the city of Philadelphia, did an awesome job,” Shapiro said.
Roseman is one of pro football’s most decorated executives after he and his staff built a Super Bowl-winning defense via the draft and shrewdly signing running back Saquon Barkley away from the hated New York Giants this past off season.
